Our trip over the mountain is in the bright red open-topped touring cars. Our park lodging is a personal favorite--the lodge, on the shore of Swiftcurrent Lake, opened in 1915. Built of all native timber and rock, Many Glacier’s Swiss Chalet look is like no other in any of our National Parks. By the way, there are no TV’s or radios--its light until 10:30 p.m.--just enjoy the view. The Calgary Stampede (we are there for two days). First for the chuckwagon races and “light-up-the-night” stage and firework show, and back again for an afternoon of championship rodeo. There is plenty of time for the midway, pavilions, livestock barns or the casino. A full day in the Canadian Rockies with a visit to one of the grand hotels built by the railroad, the Chateau Lake Louise. The Chateau sits on glacial Lake Louise, one of the most beautiful sights in anybody’s Rocky Mountains. We’ll also visit the resort community of Banff for shopping and lunch (on your own). Our route home is through Regina and crosses the border at North Portal, North Dakota. Baggage handling for one suitcase (per person) at all lodging.
